Does aromatherapy for depression relief work, and what are the mechanisms behind it?

While aromatherapy treatment might not actually completely cure a person going through depression, what it will certainly do is elevate his or her mood and bring about a positive attitude. This is because aromatherapy among other things, is like a detoxification process both psychologically and physiologically.

Thus, the principle on which aromatherapy for depression relief works is to indulge the sense of smell, followed by relaxing and calming the physical and emotional aspects of the human body, which contributes to elevating depressed feelings in a person.

People suffering from anxiety and depression can benefit from aromatherapy mainly because they need to relax their body and mind, so as to control and even reduce the symptoms of depression a person is experiencing.
