Magnet Therapy For Depression Relief

Have you heard about using magnet therapy for depression?

What exactly does one mean by "Magnet Therapy"?

Magnet therapy is an alternative treatment methodology which was used extensively in ancient Greece, India, China, Egypt, and Israel. It continues to be extremely popular across several countries in the world, especially in Austria, China, Germany, Japan, and India and is slowly gaining recognition in other parts of the world including the United States.

Magnet therapy is considered an alternative treatment form mostly for pain relief and to enhance healing by balancing the body's energy fields. The positive and negative ions contained in the human body at the cellular level need to be equally polarized for normal and optimum functioning of the mind and body.

Due to various reasons both external and internal, if there is an imbalance and the polarities are unequal, it creates various physiological conditions resulting in stress, sleeplessness, depression, migraine, body pain, and other disease conditions. Therefore, it is extremely important to maintain a healthy balance within the body and to achieve this, magnets can be employed. This is where magnet therapy for depression treatment comes in.

Magnets are available in two forms, unipolar magnets and bipolar magnets. While the unipolar variety has positive ions on one side and negative ions on the other side, the bipolar kind has both positive and negative charges on each side. The bipolar magnets aren't used much because of the presence of both charges on either side, which cancel each other's energies, thereby weakening its magnetic fields.

Magnets placed appropriately at certain energy centers help increase blood circulation, thereby initiating the healing process. Once the magnetic energy starts influencing the body’s energy fields, the imbalance in positive and negative charges is minimized and the body starts healing.

However, it is important to note that magnets on their own do not cure any condition, but do aid in the process of healing by maximizing blood circulation, balancing energies, and helping increase oxygen supply to individual body cells, thus ensuring the body functions at its best. This is how using magnet therapy for depression relief could be useful.

For magnet therapy to be effective, it is important to choose the right kind of magnet depending on its size, thickness, strength, and the placing of magnets on the body. The thickness of the magnet is directly responsible for its power to infiltrate into the body, similarly the placement and number of magnets too influence the effectiveness of magnet therapy. It is also important to note that there are no side effects from magnet therapy and it does not harm the human body in any way; therefore, using magnet therapy for depression relief is definitely worth a try.

For people suffering from depression, natural forms of healing can be useful. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a form of magnet therapy where energy from magnets is directed to a specific zone in the brain, which is considered to be responsible for triggering depression. Studies conducted indicated that TMS is as effective as electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) and showed positive results in about 50 to 70% of people suffering from depression.

While ECT has its own set of risks and challenges, it is felt that TMS is relatively safe and cost effective as well. Each TMS session takes around 20 minutes and depending upon the prognosis, further sessions will be given. The only possible side effects of TMS are slight twitching sensations in the fingers and mild to moderate headaches. TMS works by increasing the electrical functioning in the problem areas of the human brain that trigger depression. The magnetic energy infiltrated into the body works by increasing the electrical activities in the human brain.

Thus, magnet therapy is found to be extremely effective in treating people with depression, in addition to the various other conditions it treats, like hip and joint movement in people suffering from arthritis.

Using magnet therapy for depression treatment may well be worth a try.
