Venlafaxine - Depression DrugVenlafaxine or Effexor is one of the most recently introduced antidepressants in the market today. Venlafaxine is referred to as a dual uptake inhibitor because it influences the increase in levels of two neurotransmitters, serotonin and norepinephrine, by inhibiting the pumps that transmit them into the presynaptic nerves once they are released into the synapses. According to feedback received from people who have taken Prozac and then switched to venlafaxine, they find that venlafaxine is more effective. This is mostly true of people suffering from melancholic depression. Side effects of this depression medicine include reactions like lack of sleep or insomnia, loss of appetite, and loss of libido. Venlafaxine is also used to treat other conditions like chronic pain and attention deficit disorder (ADD). Some common side effects of venlafaxine pills include GI problems, constipation, hypertension, profuse sweating, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, peripheral tremors, eye sight problems like blurred vision, lack of interest in sex, dryness of mouth and throat, insomnia, and lack of appetite. Dizziness occurs once the person stops taking venlafaxine or Effexor. As you can see, this particular depression medication is quite similar to antidepressant drugs in general, in that they come with many side effects and adverse reactions. Sometimes, such negative reactions could be very serious or even fatal. This alone is a very good reason for one to seriously consider the use of safe, non-toxic, yet effective alternative treatments for depression. Indeed, there are many natural remedies which can help bring relief and recovery, without the dangers of pharmaceutical drugs.
