Zyban Depression MedicationBupropion or Zyban depression medications (Zyban is said to be the old name): Another commonly used drug to treat depression is bupropion or Wellbutrin, which works by inhibiting the reuptake of all three important neurotransmitters, namely serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Wellbutrin or bupropion is widely used to treat various forms of severe depression and also conditions like attention deficit disorder (ADD). It has been found that when bupropion or Wellbutrin is used in combination with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), the effects are impressive. It is said to also help to overcome various side effects of SSRIs, like lack of interest in sex and difficulty having orgasms. Manufacturers of bupropion or Wellbutrin clearly indicate that this medicine is not recommended or should not be used by people who have a history of head injury, brain tumor, epilepsy, bulimia, and anorexia nervosa. Some of the common side effects of Wellbutrin include GI problems like nausea and stomach pain, profuse sweating, lack of appetite, tinnitus or ringing in the ears, insomnia, headaches, seizures, and restlessness. Bupropion has adverse reactions in people who take this drug and consume alcohol or other sedatives. It also reacts with some corticosteroidal medication and might cause seizures. Thus, it is critical that people consult their family physician or psychiatrist before taking bupropion or Zyban pills. Overall, antidepressant drugs usually have many potentially serious side effects, and one should seriously consider the use of safe, non-toxic, and effective natural and alternative treatments and remedies for overcoming depression.
